Situated on a beautiful 334-acre campus in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt University consists of 10 schools, four of which offer undergraduate programs. The University offers eight majors in the School of Engineering, including Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The College of Arts and Science offers a variety of disciplines such as Biological Sciences, Physics, and Neuroscience. With over 100 interdisciplinary research centers and institutions plus close proximity to the Vanderbilt Medical Center, undergraduate students have a variety of opportunities for research and internships. Vanderbilt’s 230,000-sq. ft. Engineering and Science building includes classroom and laboratory spaces, a 15,000-sq. ft. clean room, and the Wond’ry—the University’s epicenter for innovation and entrepreneurship. Through collaborative work environments, makerspaces, and cocurricular programming, the Wond’ry is the place where abstract ideas are transformed into concrete realities that make a difference in people’s lives.
At Vanderbilt, 56% of undergraduates participate in academic research, and with a 7:1 student-faculty ratio, students have easy access to faculty. Vanderbilt students take full advantage of student life by engaging in more than 475 student organizations, a full range of study abroad programs, Division I athletics, and a variety of exciting internship opportunities. The University makes a commitment to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted students, with no need to take out loans. First-year international applicants are also eligible to apply for all merit-based scholarships offered at Vanderbilt.
